‘put my 3rd finger on the g string’
genius
May 14, 2011 - 6:49 am
@dtbjjrb well you could use your index finger and bar all the way across. and then use your rin finger to mute the 5th string
May 14, 2011 - 7:26 am
@TasteForDisaster True, I have an electric guitar but I’d like to learn it on acoustic. But playing on electric because of the thins neck is a good idea.
May 14, 2011 - 8:13 am
Thank you so much “Pete”!!!! With that same name and most of all with that great playing and clearly teaching style you have you absolutely deserve all this international congratulations!!!
Prima!!!
May 14, 2011 - 8:14 am
@dtbjjrb if you hand is too small, and your using an acoustic guitar, then you have no choice but to wait until you grow up a but more. well actually, you can buy an electric guitar, because they typically have “thinner” necks, and you could probably comfortably get your thumb around there.
May 14, 2011 - 8:30 am
@Chibbers
The way he is doing it or my way with playing the E with the thumb and muting the A with the ring finger is the best way.. just thought I’d make that clear.
May 14, 2011 - 9:28 am
@dtbjjrb
My problem was with not being able to mute the A string with my thumb while not muting the other strings.
I could still get my thumb on the E though so I’m planning to mute the A string with my ring finger.
Hope this helps at all.
I thought maybe I could try to play the E string with my index and play two strings with something else and switch it up but this really seems to be the best way to do it.
May 14, 2011 - 9:40 am
okay.. I can’t do the whole.. muting the A string with my thumb so I’m muting it with my ring finger.
It’s still difficult but I feel like this way is actually something I can do.
