depends on your practice regiment. you’ll be able to play chords in a month. switch between them easily in three. write songs in 6. but you’ll have to work. it’s never too late though. hope you’re still in college. after a long work day, mustering up the energy to practice two hours is hard. even for one man. but it’s soo much fun. rock it out

You can learn a lot in a year.. but most guitarists who can do some of the really fantastic riffs… started WAY before they were 22.

Just learn how to play guitar and enjoy the experience.

I don’t think its to old. It doesn’t have an age limit you should be able to start whenever you like. As for the band or going solo you may get discovered you never know until you try. If its a dream, you’ll only want to work harder to get it. Good Luck!

depends, some people are just naturals, others never get it, age dosent have a lot to do with it, if you do your lessons and practice at least an hour a night within 6 mo’s you should be proficent enough to know if the guitar is for you. as in after 6 mo’s your not having fun it’s not for you

Its all about your motivation and how you look at it. Is 23 years worse than 22? You’re still pretty young and have your entire life to learn more and more. As far as the time frame goes, it’s up to your intensity. An hour or two a day will get you strumming chords in about a week, a few months you’ll be putting those chords together into songs. I’ve seen people who’ve played for only 6 months get into solos and you couldn’t tell they just started 6 months ago. The first couple months are the most frustrating, but if you stick with it you may just find a rewarding life long hobby.
