Eric Johnson has …
Eric Johnson has never had much commercial success but I always had the impression that he never wanted it. He has always had a very strong cult following though. His Hot Licks videos are some of the very best teaching tools available. I saw him live at a Blues On The Rocks annual show in Denver about 10 yrs ago. He put on a great set as an underlining act to the Blues Master…B.B. King.

No idea, but given that his signature guitar (which he uses for almost everything now) has a floating trem and, as far as i know, he uses them bone stock; so its probably 1/8″.

thanks, I couldn’t tell from any of his videos or interviews. Do you know how much he floats it, I know fender spec is 1/8″, and i personally float it 3/32″.

I’ll be the last …
I’ll be the last person to whine about how someone does or doesn’t play. I was just simply pointing out how amazing it is that he picks so much. I totally agree with ya that music changes styles with time and that’s a great thing kuz how boring would it be if we had to listen to nothing but Eric Johnson style music all the time. As awesome as he is, listening to him for more than about ten minutes gets to me. Starts to sound like everything starts to run together. God bless! Keep on pickin!

@titaniumsalute04
Music changes through the years, so does technique.
Don’t think we should whine that people play a lot of legato these days, just like we don’t whine that the originals didn’t sweeppick and stringskip very much
