I linked a video below of myself playing “Will you miss me”. I played it Carter Style as we call in in West Virgina. Carter style is very close to what is being taught her.

@Studio607Productions
I am from West Virginia so Carter is like god here. He played with the thumb and finger pick just like Lester and Mother Maybelle Carter. Alot of us still play with a thumb and? finger pick in the hills. I attached a video below of myself singing “WIll you miss me when I am Gone”. I am picking and playing the song “Carter Style”.

I’m not very familiar with Carter’s style so it’s hard for me to say. I do know that Carter used a thumbpick and I think he used a fingerpick.

Is this the way Carter Stanley played his guitar?

At the time this video was made they were an older set of Elixirs. I’m not sure how old because I didn’t put them on. The guitar was mid-repair and had just gotten a new bridge and a neck reset came shortly the first set of videos. I didn’t want to put a new set on mid-repair. In later videos they are all new Elixirs except the G, which is a D’Addario. I use medium gauge on for all my strings but the D’Addario feels a bit tighter than the Elixir and I like that for the G. Why this question?

Thanks
I’m really happy that people are enjoying and hopefully learning from them. I also appreciate all your feedback David. It’s really nice to have a “thread” to discuss points that can’t all fit into the 10 minute limit and discuss different options and methods.

Thank you guys for watching. I’m not 100% sure that everything I teach is “exactly” like Lester did it but as far as I can tell it is, at least, close.

Chris, thanks for unraveling the mysteries of Lester’s guitar playing. And thanks for all the great playing you’ve done with John and so many others over the years.
