E1M8 lead guitar instruction: Doom 3 mod “Classic Doom 3″
www.myspace.com E1M8 Part 1: Lead guitar instruction by Sonic Clang. Part 2 will cover the rhythm guitar parts. I recorded with two cameras for over 45 minutes, so I had quite of video to edit to get this done. It took me 45 minutes because I kept screwing up what I was saying… I’m not an actor

dude dont’ u have a video with doom 1 e1m1 lead guitar? =/
June 25, 2010 - 10:28 am
@abodyzee87 Absolutely, yes, you could play this with standard tuning. In hind sight I should have done this video that way, but I was planning on doing a pt1 and pt2 thing with the rhythm part coming second. But I never made that because I just ran out of time to do stuff like this.
Having said that, playing it on one string would be crap. There’s a reason there are 6 of them. An A on the low E string sounds totally different than it does on the A string.

dude have you tried playin it with stander tuning and playin it on one sting ?
like the firts part
B: 8 8 6 4 8 ( with the same bends on the first one )
B; 8 6 13 6 8
6 6 13 16 13
n you the same for the rest without juming strings

I’ve explained this a hundred times. When we were making the mod, a group of guys were remaking the levels and I was remaking the songs. When you’re trying to keep things organized, what do you think is less confusing?
Level “E1M1″ goes with song “E1M1″.
Or…
Level “Hangar” goes with song “At Doom’s Gate”.
Now, multiply that by 9 (the number of levels we remade), and you can start to see why I never bothered learning the song names. It doesn’t matter, it’s a game, not an album.

Why are so many people not using the real names of the doom songs? This one’s actually called ‘The sign of evil’ instead of E1M8.
June 25, 2010 - 1:38 pm
Hey Brian just got done listenin to metallicas album the song orion in one spot sounds alot like E1M8 if u want take a look and listen for urself good friend and fellow doom fanatic The Lone Soldier
June 25, 2010 - 2:03 pm
my favorite doom song ever
June 25, 2010 - 2:03 pm
amazing, really helped alot =)
ive always wanted to play this song
i think your version is SO much more hardcore, its more of a run and kill song, yet the original song is more of a plain evil song
Though i kind of those choirs at the begining =/

I heard this and downloaded the song from another video off youtube using a program so I could put it on my ipod. I checked it out later and realized it was done by a well known “Sonic Clang”. I just don’t get how people can’t leanr this by ear!!! XD but who cares, great vid and great song.

Doom 4 details will be released QuakeCon 2010
June 25, 2010 - 3:26 pm
Yeah man, I really took some major artistic liberties with this song. I needed it to be more heavy and powerful than the original. I don’t feel that my version is better at all, just different and cool in its own way.
June 25, 2010 - 3:44 pm
Not really. Your guitar either has the whammy or not. You can either sound like David Gilmore, or not.
June 25, 2010 - 4:21 pm
is there an easy sub 4 the whammy caz juz finger VIB dnt sound as nice as the 1 on here
June 25, 2010 - 5:09 pm
wheres the rythm vid?
June 25, 2010 - 5:14 pm
Ah, I see. Thank you man.
I just love that fucking heavy bassline, it wasn’t present in the 1993 version of the song and it adds so much to it.
June 25, 2010 - 5:42 pm
Well, you get the tuning, right? I went through the tuning at the beginning of the video. That really is for the rhythm more than the lead.
June 25, 2010 - 6:23 pm
how do i play the rythm part? its definately not a G chord, judging by my experiments… lol
June 25, 2010 - 7:20 pm
where is the part 2? =B
