How about you talk to her about it? Tell her you only want her to focus on one and that if she’d rather change to guitar lessons then you will let her do that.

Don’t make the decision for her, ask for her input! She will then give you the answer you require.

How old is she? Does she like one instrument more than the other? Don’t let her continue to think she has to hide her guitar playing.

It really is up to HER, Ask her which instrument she would like to take lessons for, or which one she sees herself continuing in the long run.

I would stick with piano though. just because I played piano competitively from ages 5-15, tried out violin, and classical guitar in my older years. But til this day, I wish I never quit piano. I still occasionally pick up my guitar, but I find playing piano more satisfying. THe piano is a beautiful instrument, and learning how to play while young makes other instruments easier to master in the future.

You should get a guitar for her to play around with. Guitar is easily self taught.

it may be good to let her finish basic piano lessons to understand keys and notes,and sheet music, and allow her to play guitar on her own time, not sure what instruments she has at home, the piano would be nice for anyone, and also for her personal use, a synthesizer with computer software, and acoustic guitar would be as good as an electric for learning, so it still is up to you and her to meet half way on where to go from here, and also figure in who else in the family uses any instruments for second opinions,

I think it would be awesome if she did both. Talk to her about it. If she wants to do both then I don’t see why not, if she is good the she could have her own one person band just like The Rocket Summer.

Let her do both. If I would’ve had a chance to do either, I would’ve been happy. I feel a little behind in the music world since I can hardly play piano, and same with guitar. It’ll be beneficial if she played both and was happy playing both.

In my opinion I would keep her in piano lessons since it helps her grow musically all around. allow her to do both for a while and if she still likes the guitar down the road then she is more musically inclined from both.

I was allowed to drop piano lessons for other instruments and later regretted it because it was such a good instrument to know, I wish I had played it as well as the other instruments and grown more musically but i didn’t.

Ah, she is lucky. For me, I play the piano and take lessons, but I really want to learn the guitar. Any guitar. A guitar to play songs that you can’t exactly play on the piano.

In my opinion, learn both. They’re really helpful if you DO know both. But if you want one thing, then let her decide. She can always ask her friend to teach her, if her friend wants to. Then you wouldn’t have to spend money, and it’d be fun for them.
