She has been ‘secretly’ playing the electric guitar at her friends house and has taken a liking to it. She was afraid to tell me since we have put money into her piano lessons. Is it a good idea to take her out of piano or should we just let her continue? She wouldn’t mind piano AND guitar lessons but we think she should be focused on one thing right now.
My daughter is 13

How old is she? Does she like one instrument more than the other? Don’t let her continue to think she has to hide her guitar playing.

It really is up to HER, Ask her which instrument she would like to take lessons for, or which one she sees herself continuing in the long run.

I would stick with piano though. just because I played piano competitively from ages 5-15, tried out violin, and classical guitar in my older years. But til this day, I wish I never quit piano. I still occasionally pick up my guitar, but I find playing piano more satisfying. THe piano is a beautiful instrument, and learning how to play while young makes other instruments easier to master in the future.

You should get a guitar for her to play around with. Guitar is easily self taught.
