Learn To Play Guitar
What is a good guitar/amp for blues?
I’m looking for a good blues guitar or amp or good blues guitar/amp combination. I also want the guitar/amp to be well suited for Metallica-like metal and classic rock but to be really great for both clean and dirty blues. For the amp i don’t want to spend more than $700 and for the guitar, no more than $1000. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Fender Blues Jr. Great sound, if you don’t need it too loud.

Why would you spend more on a guitar than an amp?
You can get away with a shitty guitar (as long as it stays in tune), but the amp should be your priority.
Anyway, Fender Blues Jr. and Mark Knopfler’s Strat.

I like the blues as well, although I come from a mostly rock background. For my gear I chose a PRS guitar and a Peavey ValveKing 212 amp, I had the money to buy almost anything I wanted to but just could’nt justify spending more to get less. The PRS is an HSS model ( I already own a dbl hum guitar) and the Peavey uber rocks but the tone is sweet as honey too.

You would be wise to visit your closest Guitar Center or Sam Ash or whatever music store carries a variety of instruments and just plug in and play them all. Every guitar sounds different and some amplifiers compliment the guitars tone much better then others. I have always been a die-hard Gibson/Marshall lover but thats just me. Go out and find a good combination that works for YOU.

I would buy a Fender Hot Rod Deville amp. And get any decent guitar with whats left. Even a Mexican Stratocaster from the pawn shop can kick ass. Don’t ever forget where it all really comes from. You.

Fender Blues Deluxe for about 600 and an American Strat for 1000.
