Learn To Play Guitar
Perfect blues guitar for my price range?
I want a guitar that expresses my love for blues and has a sound similar to Eric Clapton’s guitar in songs like Cocaine and I’ve Got a Rock ‘N’ Roll Heart. My price range is $350 max, maybe $400 if I really love it. Any suggestions peoples?

Fender Strat is his weapon of choice
April 5, 2011 - 6:44 am
Your best bet is to get on Craigslist and look around local pawn shops. You can get a used MIM Fender Strats all day long for $300-$350. A new one is going to run you $500 at least. An Epiphone Dot would be good, but will run you around $400.
But here is the absolute best value for the dollar, and a great blues guitar….

I love people that ,say go to the internet and buy a guitar. You can play five guitars that were all made the same day and they will all feel different in your hands. If you can,t play it before you buy , its worthless.I have been playing for thirty years and have purchased over twenty guitars.I have owned strats tele,s, Les pauls.turners. Ibanez, Washburns, and a a few other brands I can,t remember right now. I presently play a strat. That I bought in 91. this guitar has been good to me.I play in a classic rock and blue,s band. The strat is the guitar of chose for many blue,s artisits. Including Clapton.I purchase most of the guitars I have bought out of pawn shops, I am one of those people that it has to feel good in my hands. The strat I have I bought new and the shop had over 15 strats on the wall. I didn,t care about the color . but playablity.was key only One felt good in my hands. I have purchased many guitars this way. I would suggest the pawn shops as a lot of people loose there babies there.I did several modifications. to my strat over the years.replaced all the wireing to a heavier guage, put in seymour duncans in the neck and middle, and a old dimarzio super distortion in the bridge position. This made my strat a great all round guitar.I have access to a world of tones and, and use all of them.Good luck on your search.

Fender Strat

Fender Stratocaster or any number of the clones that are available.

I’m partial to Telecasters, but Clark is right, you can’t buy a guitar over the internet and expect to get what you’re looking for.

Well Eric is one of the most recognizable of the Strat Masters, but the most recognizable guitar of the Blues Master would be a Gibson ES 335, many copy’s can be found of both, your price range prohibits a real one, however I did score a garage sale steal of a 58 Gibson Byrdland back in the 80s for $350, some how I don’t think you’ll get that lucky though.

A Fender Strat is all very well but I think you can get much much better value for money by going for a Yamaha Pacifica http://bit.ly/ahsFUG.
They don’t have the reputation of the Strat – But guess what – you pay for that reputation!
The Pacifica is an extremely well though out and well executed piece of kit…Packed Full of Value!
Buy one – it will make you very happy!

nothing for that chep people dont get it you will throw 300 down the drain guy a 700 its considered on the cheapper side

A Fender Strat is the way to go from what you have said. The guitar has a good feel, very good sound and good variation in tones and is fun to play. Go to some shops, check prices, find one that feels and sounds good to you. Strats have always been my number 1 guitar for gigs, they just work. Only buy a guitar you have played. Good Luck !
