The Ibanez GSR 100 …
The Ibanez GSR 100 is fine to start with. Just make sure it is healthy and well-priced. Often, purchasing a new instrument at a music store is more beneficial in many ways.
Regarding what to look for, check out some of the dedicated bass forums, or take someone knowledgeable with you.
Bass of Luck!

There are many …
There are many left-handed bass players who play basses in different configurations. You will have to try a few options (upside-down, right-handed, string swapping etc.) until you find what suits you best.
With your bass strings switched around, you must make sure that the intonation, action, and truss rod are set correctly.

Yes, you can play …
Yes, you can play bass lines and riffs on the four lowest-pitched strings of a guitar. Some people are very proficient at this.
However, playing bass on the guitar will be an octave higher than most bass lines and will therefore not quite fill the low register.

Great thing, you’re …
Great thing, you’re very helpfull. i actually don’t have a bass yet, but soon i’ll get one. But anyway i have a little doubt. I already play guitar (wich makes everything lots easier) but when i started i had a problem with the pain in the left hand fingertips and once the bass strings are ticker i would like to know if the problem will repeat (if yes, is too hard to get used to it?) or the guitar fingering is ‘enough’. Again, thanks a lot by this, you don’t have an idea of how you help people.
