Learn To Play Guitar
Do I need to get guitar/bass lessons again?
I had guitar lessons for a year, then I had bass lessons for a year before quitting because I felt I needed a break. Now I want to start playing bass and guitar again. I play songs at home and I’m going to go through a teach yourself kinda book for both guitar and bass, so do I still need to get lessons?
You need to get together as often as possible with other musicians. Practise and jam and have a good time.

If you’ve continued playing since you stopped taking lessons, your instincts are probably strong enough that you don’t need more lessons. Just keep playing and I’m sure you’ll find it easy to learn on your own. Plus, by learning independently, you’re more likely to develop your own playing style. Good luck!

Since you took lessons for a couple years, try and find the notes/books that the teacher gave you and go over those materials again. Also, try and think of the maxims the teacher(s) taught you and keep those in mind when practicing again. My first teacher preached good posture and technique and I remind myself of this each day I play.
Also, you could pick up one of the "For Dummies" books which I found to have a chock full of information to supplement your education and is almost like having a teacher’s lesson plan in your own home. There comes a point where you need to educate yourself, and I think you might be at that point. Plus, by learning it on your own, you might find it more rewarding.
