Great video, man. Thanks for the upload. You should take each mode’s example and turn it in to one song. That would be pretty awesome.

if i may ask, how do you know which chord progressions are going to fit with the modes? I know one would be to tell the relative distance between the root and the starting note of the mode, but what about the other chords? thanks
June 9, 2011 - 5:50 am
Great job! I’ve grown weary of playing the 3 and 4 chord songs…This opens up a whole new relm of music.

Dave, thanks for the awesome lesson on modes. I have never studied them before and I liked the way you showed how the scales and chords work together.
Thanks again
June 9, 2011 - 7:34 am
Thank you so much.
Can you give an example of a popular song and how a mode is used in it ?
If you start ‘ Greensleeves / what child is this’ in A minor -
would this be the key of G and would you be in the 2nd mode ?
Do you only stay in a mode as long as you stay in the chord that goes with it ?
As soon as you change chords then would you change modes ?
June 9, 2011 - 7:36 am
